A trip to Berkeley’s Doe Memorial Library got me thinking about the interesting and geeky graffiti at peer institutions. Even if I had the time and money to embark on graffiti tourism, it wouldn’t be the same. A project like this needs someone local, who understands the references and the culture.
I’d like to collaborate with anyone (student, staff, faculty, whoever) at other “Ivy Plus” institutions. (Similar outside the US are okay, too– I love non-English graffiti, so long as you’re willing to translate it.) I don’t know what that would look like, exactly, but I’m happy to discuss anything from blog co-author on Crescat Graffiti, to setting up a separate subdomain (the Chicagoist, SFist, etc. model), to accepting occasional submissions of photographs and/or commentary.
Part of the success of this site has been due to the Creative Commons licensing of the images (Attribution-Share Alike) but if that’s a sticking point I’m open to discussing it.
Between Slashdot and upcoming coverage by traditional media outlets, there’s a lot of eyes showing up here these days. If not for the love, there’s always the glory.
